Kristaps LÄ«bietis

Kristaps Lībietis ( born May 28, 1982 in Alūksne ) is a Latvian biathlete.

Kristaps Lībietis is married and has one child. He starts for the club Juniors Aluksne from his hometown. He is trained by Intars Berkulis. Lībietis operates since 1993 Biathlon and belongs since 2003 to the Latvian national team. His first major race of the Lette ran in 2000 as part of the Junior World Cup in the summer biathlon, which was held in Khanty-Mansiysk. He won silver in the relay, bronze in the pursuit and was fifth in the sprint. This was followed by appearances at the European Junior Championships in 2001 in Haute Maurienne, at the Junior World Championship in the same year in Khanty-Mansiysk ( fifth place in the relay ) and the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Ridnaun, in each case without greater success. Things went better at the Junior World Championships 2002 in Kontiolahti where he won the bronze medal in the relay. The Junior World Championships 2003 in Kościelisko and the Junior European Championship of the year in Forni Avoltri reiterated no appreciable results. Things went better at the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon, which was also held in Forni Avoltri 2003. Lībietis was fifth in pursuit, fourth in the mass start and won gold in the relay.

In 2004, the athletes in Minsk for the first time participate in a major event to seniors level. At the European Championships, a sixth season ranking was the best result. At the World Cup in the summer biathlon in the same year in Osrblie Lībietis reached a sixth place in the mass start for the best result. The European Championships in 2006 and 2007 Langsdorf in Bansko brought as little notable success as the Biathlon World Championships 2004 in Oberhof ( 72 in each ), 2005 in Hochfilzen, or 2007 in Antholz ( 71 in each ). At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin Lībietis launched three routes and made some of his best results in international races. He was 68th in singles and reached in Sprint and Pursuit 54 seats. At the World Championships in the Summer Biathlon 2007 Otepaeae a ninth place in the individual was his best result, with the season he finished fifth.

Lībietis was in the 2000 /01 season as part of a relay race ( 15 ) in Ruhpolding his debut in the Biathlon World Cup. He played his second race a year later at the same place again in the relay ( 16 ). As of the 2001 /02 season, he first went to the Junior World Cup and won here in Obertilliach his only international race. From the season 2003/ 04 Lībietis started mostly in the European Cup Biathlon and came more and more frequently over time in the World Cup for use. With the season of the Lette reached in December 2007 as a ninth -placed for the first time a top ten result. In a single race he could gather to kick off the 2008/09 season in Ostersund than 37 in a single first World Cup points. It is also his best-ever placing.
