Kurt Garger

Kurt Garger ( born September 15, 1960 in Strem, Burgenland ) is a former Austrian football player who played as a defender, was active as a football coach and currently works as a sports director and TV host.

Career

His youth spent Kurt Garger until 1979 when SV Güssing, from where he moved to SK Rapid Wien. He remained there until 1989 and played 254 league games, 36 Cupspiele and 38 international matches for the club. In 1994 he returned for a season to Rapid. After four league titles and five hits in the Cup, he moved to Innsbruck for FC Tirol, with whom he reached two Liga titles and won the Cup. The next stop was the SV Austria Salzburg, where he was able to achieve a championship title. The highlights of his playing career were the two European Cup finals (1985 European Cup Winners' Cup and 1994 UEFA with Rapid Cup final with SV Austria Salzburg). He trailed off his active career as a player-coach at SV Gera village. Despite its impressive collection of titles he played only once, in 1991, the Austrian national team.

After his playing days he became a coach at various Austrian clubs ( SV Gera village, Admira / Wacker, Vienna, SC Eisenstadt, SC -ESV Parndorf 1919, TSV Hartberg), and Germany ( FSV Frankfurt) and in Slovakia (DAC Dunajská Streda ). Since 25 September 2012, he has worked as sports director at Vienna, he also moderated together with Dani Linzer the football program " Austria's hottest League " on TV show.
