Kyle Nissen

Kyle Nissen ( born August 23, 1979 in Calgary, Alberta) is a former Canadian freestyle skis. He was dedicated to the discipline Aerials ( jumping).

Biography

Nissen launched in February 1995, the North American Continental Championship Nor- Am Cup - but initially in the then discharged discipline Skiballett, occasionally, in the moguls disciplines. In 1998 he turned finally to the freestyle ski jumping. His debut in the Freestyle World Cup he had on 4 December 1999, Whistler -Blackcomb, where he was twelfth and won the first World Cup points. On 23 January 2000, he surprised everyone with his first World Cup victory in Heavenly. Nissen found it difficult to confirm this success. The season 2001/ 02 he started with a 2nd place in Mount Buller; Due to the strong internal team competition handed but this does not, in order to qualify for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

In the following two seasons were Nissen's results inconsistent ( between positions 2 and 31). In 2005 he was in the World Cup once each second and third, with 5th place in Ruka, he achieved his best result at a World Cup. In the World Cup season 2005/ 06 he stood on the podium four times; among other things, his second (and last) World Cup win was on January 8, 2006 in Mont Gabriel. In the discipline standings he finished second behind the Belarusians Dsmitryj Daschtschynski. At the Olympic Winter Games 2006, he jumped to 5th place

Nissen's best result in 2007 was a 2nd place. Due to an injury he had to miss the entire 2007/08 season. With another 2nd place he succeeded at the beginning of the year once again in 2009 to return to the top. Nissen took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was four years ago in fifth place. Immediately after the Olympic competition, he retired from professional racing.
