La Bosse (Doubs)

La Bosse is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Bosse is located at 1,040 m, 10 km north- northeast of Morteau and about 14 km west of the town of La Chaux -de-Fonds (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a promising position on the ridge of Le Mémont, which rises in the southwest of the plateaus of Maîche.

The area of ​​5.13 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by the broad ridge of Le Mémont. This ridge forms in geological- tectonic respects an anticlinal folds of the Jura and is oriented southwest-northeast direction according to the strike of the mountains in this region. It is split into two combs through a little valley, namely planted with pasture ridge of La Bosse and the wooded Bois Banal (1050 m). On the mountain ridge is the valley of the Bois de la Malcombe. To the northeast, the municipality area extends to the summit of Mont Repentir ( with 1052 m the highest peak of La Bosse ) on the western edge of the basin of Le Mémont. In the north, the area extends down the slope to the edge of the plateau at Le Luhier.

Neighboring communities of La Bosse are Mont- de -Laval to the north, Le Bizot in the east, Le Bélieu in the south and Guyans -Vennes in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages La Bosse belonged to the rule Réaumont, which was under the suzerainty of the Lords of Montfaucon, from the 15th century to that of the Counts of Montbéliard. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

By January 1, 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Montbeliard, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Population

With 77 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Bosse is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range of 120 to 130 people, a significant population decline was recorded in the subsequent period.

Economy and infrastructure

La Bosse was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( livestock and dairy farming ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are very few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Le Russey to Le Bélieu. Further road links exist with Luhier Le and Le Bizot.
