Lada Nadezhda

The Lada Nadezha (VAZ-2120) was the first minivan, which was produced in Russia. From 1998 to 2006 AvtoVAZ built the 7- seater on the Lada Niva long wheelbase based model. For the development of the Italian design studio and body corporate Vercarmodel Saro was responsible, which presented the first draft in the spring of 1998. Designed for the state of Russian roads, four-wheel drive was standard. In addition to a realized van ( Utiliter ) and a specially equipped taxi model were also a pickup truck and, based on a roadside assistance vehicle planned. In addition, there should be the minivan in a specially equipped office version and a rear-wheel drive version with sliding doors. These models were all, however, not realized, as the vehicle was a failure. Even at launch, the design has been criticized for leading to a facelift later. Also, the price was too high compared to the Niva 5-door. The financial situation of AutoWAS at the time also led to poor part quality and lack of investment and development opportunities.

Total production time were produced just over 8000 examples of the class and ended with the advent of more and more foreign competitors, the sale of the models in 2007 in the eight years.

In addition to the design facelift of the original 1.8 - liter petrol engine with 80 PS was replaced by a 1.7 -liter engine with multipoint injection with 84 hp. Later, this engine also had direct injection. The model was replaced by the Renault - Lada M90.
