Ladislav Vácha

Ladislav Vácha ( born March 21, 1899 in Brno, † June 28, 1943 in Zlín) was a Czech gymnast and Olympic champion.

He took part in three Summer Olympics for Czechoslovakia. 1920 in Antwerp he took only part in the team all-around and became fourth. At the Summer Olympics in Paris in 1924, he participated in all nine competitions in gymnastics. He won two bronze medals at the rings and the Tauhangeln. In his third appearance in Amsterdam in 1928, he became Olympic champion on the parallel bars and won two silver medals at the rings and the team all-around.

The World Gymnastics Championships 1930 in Luxembourg, he won the bronze medal on the parallel bars.

On March 25, 1943 Vácha was arrested with the justified suspicion of involvement in the resistance. The Gestapo took him in prison to cross-examine, and after two months he died as a result of torture.
