Konrad Frey

Konrad Frey ( born April 24, 1909 in Bad Kreuznach, † May 24, 1974 ) was a German gymnast.

Life

Frey's father was a bricklayer Simon Frey, his mother Josephine Appolonia Soiné. Frey attended elementary school and then graduated at the " Kreuznacher Peska Union " an apprenticeship as a locksmith. In the " water heater factory East and Scherer " he was eventually hired as a locksmith fittings.

He belonged to the Men's Gymnastics Club at 1877 eV Bad Kreuznach and was built in 1930 Middle Rhine champion Twelve battle. In 1934 he finished 25th in the all around at the world championships. Konrad Frey in 1932, 1935 and 1937 German Champion in the all around. At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, he was the most successful German participants with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, and the second most successful overall by Jesse Owens. He won gold on the parallel bars, pommel horse and on with the team in the all around. The silver medal he won on the high bar, the bronze medal on the ground and in the individual competition of the multi struggle.

Following his participation in the Olympics, he was gymnastics and sports teacher in the school association Bad Kreuznach. 1937 was Konrad Frey his teaching certificate in Neustrelitz. After the expiry of the members' special tab of the NSDAP, he joined the NSDAP in 1937. During World War II he was inducted as a sergeant in the army and fought on the Eastern Front.

After the war, Frey was re- admitted as gymnastics and sports teacher, about his denazification is not known. He was entrusted with the duties of county sports speakers. 1954 Frey was appointed officials for life, and from 1955 to 1961 he was a consultant for school sport in the school district supervision Kreuznach I. On July 1, 1961 Konrad Frey celebrated its 25th anniversary with the company and was still active in the ring school.

On 31 May 1967 he retired and was at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich guest of honor of the Olympic Committee.
