It is the administrative center of the homonymous district.

Lajes das Flores is the southernmost point of the island.

History

Lajes was built at the beginning of the 16th century and is one of the oldest settlements on Flores.

Attractions

The main church Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora do Rosário was built from 1763 to 1783. Its present shape pointing towards the sea with the, tiled facade she received in the 19th century.

Economy
