Laura Dahlmeier

Laura Dahl Meier ( born August 22, 1993, Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) is a German biathlete.

Sporting career

Laura Dahl Meier tried for the first time as a seven year old in the sport of biathlon and initially denied competitions in alpine skiing before she decided after two years for biathlon. At the age of 17, she scored several successes in the season 2010 /2011. They drew attention to himself in the Germany Cup with two first and two second places. In her first Junior World Championships, she also won by their third places in pursuit and relay two medals. When shortly afterwards in Liberec discharged European Youth Olympic Festival, it achieved a perfect score with wins in all three races (sprint, individual and mixed relay ).

The following year, Dahl Meier was unable to match their previous successes and missed the top ten results in the individual competitions at the Junior World Championships in the Finnish Kontiolahti. In the relay, they finished sixth with Franziska Preuss and Juliet Bartolmäs. On the other hand, it confirmed in Germany Cup with four first places its successes of the previous year. Together with two other third places she decided the overall ranking of the Germany Cup in their age class by itself. In March 2012, she won at the German Youth and Junior Championships in Oberhof each first place in the sprint and the individual. The victory in the relay with Franziska Preuss and Iris Grandl it secured its third youth championship.

Due to its good performance in the Germany Cup Dahl Meier was the beginning of January 2013 nominated by the German Ski Association for the Junior World Championships in Obertilliach. At the start they took first place in the sprint. After she ran again in the subsequent chase with second place on the podium, it secured another title at the Individual, and in the relay. With a total of three gold and one silver medal, she was successful participant in the Junior Women. Due to the strong performance of the German Ski Association nominated it for the one week later held World Championships in Nove Mesto. There she was installed in place of Nadine Horchler for the women's relay, reaching together with Franziska Hildebrand, Miriam Gössner and Andrea Henkel fifth. Private life

Dahl Meier lives in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. She is the daughter of Andreas Dahl Meier and his wife Susi (born Buchwieser ). The parents were the beginning of the 1990s, successful mountain bike rider and won several national and international titles. Awards

In 2013 she was awarded the Winter Star by Bavarian television in the category perspective and the Bavarian sports award as Outstanding young athlete.
