Laura Tyson

Laura D' Andrea Tyson ( born June 28, 1947 in New Jersey) is an American economist and professor. From January 2002 until the end of 2006 she was the first female dean of the London Business School.

After graduating as a Bachelor of Arts degree at Smith College in 1969 and his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974 in Economics, she became in 1977 Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1990 she was appointed to a chair there for business administration and went back there in 2007.

From 1998 to 2001, she was Dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California and also worked in the Clinton administration as a consultant. From 1993 to 1995 she was chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1995 to 1996 and chairman of the National Economic Council. As chief economic advisor to the President Tyson had a decisive impact on Clinton's economic and trade policy in its first term of office. Since 1987 she is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

In addition to teaching she has worked in the Management and Supervisory Boards and as an advisor to several global companies, such as Morgan Stanley, Eastman Kodak Company or SBC Communications.
