Le Plus Grand Français

Le Plus Grand Français de tous les temps ( The greatest Frenchman of all time ) was a television program of the station France 2, which was based on the 100 Greatest Britons series of the BBC and ran in early 2005. The show asked the French public, who do you think is the greatest Frenchman or Frenchwoman the largest. It was moderated by Michel Drucker and Thierry Ardisson. The last episode was broadcast from the French Senate.

The winner was the former President and leader of the Forces Françaises Libres, Charles de Gaulle.

The show has been criticized by some historians as they present just on personalities of recent French history. Key figures of French history that contributed to the founding of the French nation, as the kings Philip II Augustus, Saint Louis and Louis XIV were largely ignored.
