Leah Rhodes

Leah Rhodes ( born July 21, 1902 in Port Arthur, Texas, † October 17, 1986 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia) was an American costume designer, the 1950 Academy Award for Best Costume Design in the color film The Love Adventures of Don Juan ( since 1948 ) by Vincent Sherman.

Life

Leah Rhodes began her career as a costume designer in film production in 1939 with the film The Monroe Doctrine by Crane Wilbur and worked during her career at the facilities of around 80 films. At the Academy Awards in 1950, she received along with William Travilla and Marjorie Best Academy Award for Best Costume Design for the 1948 created film The Love Adventures of Don Juan by Vincent Sherman. Other famous movies she designed costumes were Big Sleep ( 1946) by Howard Hawks, Strangers on a train (1951 ) by Alfred Hitchcock, The Fox (1967 ) by Mark Rydell and the late Western Rio Lobo (1970 ) by Howard Hawks.
