Lee Bong-ju

Lee Bong -ju ( born October 11, 1970 in Seoul) is a South Korean marathon runner and silver medalist of the Olympic Summer Games 1996.

In 1993 he had won the Honolulu Marathon and the 1995 Seoul International Marathon. At the Olympic marathon in Atlanta, he was then second in the tightest finish that it had ever been in this competition - three seconds behind Josiah Thugwane (RSA ) and five seconds before Erick Wainaina (KEN ). In the same year he won the Fukuoka Marathon.

In 1998, he posed as Second of Rotterdam Marathon with 2:07:44 a country record. In 2000 he improved him as second in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon at the still valid mark of 2:07:20.

In 2001 he won the Boston Marathon, and the following year he was as early as 1998 Asian champion in the marathon.

The 2007 season began for him with the first big victory for years, winning the Seoul International Marathon in 2:08:04.
