Lee Hyun-il

Lee Hyun- il (Korean 이현일; born April 17, 1980 in Seoul) is a South Korean badminton players. He was a member of the South Korean Olympic delegation at the Olympic Games 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Career

At the 2004 Olympics Lee Hyun- il defeated in the first round of the Men's Single Page Stuart Brehaut from Australia. In the second round ( fourth round ), he defeated Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand.

On January 27, 2008, he defeated in the final of the Korea Open Super Series 2008 is the number one in the world rankings, Lin Dan, with 4:21, 23:21 and 25:23. After a miserable start he could keep up in the second set and benefited from several tight line decisions in his favor.

In the second round of the Olympic Badminton Men Single Page Tournament 2008 Lee Hyun- il won against Marc Zwiebler in two sets. In the subsequent quarter-finals, he was also able to prevail against the set at number 3 Bao Chunlai Chinese. In the semifinals he was beaten to the later silver medalist Lee Chong Wei. In the bronze medal match he lost in three sets to the Chinese Chen Jin.

In Olympic badminton tournament in 2012 he lost to Chen Long again in the match for the bronze medal.
