Lehigh Valley International Airport (IATA: ABE, ICAO: KABE ) (formerly Allentown - Bethlehem - Easton International Airport ) is a public airport located in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.

It is located 5 km northeast of Allentown, in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania, the region with the third highest population of the state (after Philadelphia and Pittsburgh).

The airport is owned by the Lehigh - Northampton Airport Authority, which also operates it. In 2012, the airport recorded 723,556 passengers. For the years 2012 downgraded the U.S. Federal Aviation Authority as " nonhub " one, ie as an airport which 10,000 passengers, but there were less than 0.05 % of annual passenger numbers in the USA. In previous years, the airport has been designated as a "small hub".

In recent years, the Lehigh Valley Airport received ever greater competition from the Philadelphia Airport (120 km) and the International Airport, Newark -Liberty (130 km). These airports offer a greater variety of destinations and sometimes cheaper rates. This competition has been increased by the extension of Interstate 78 in 1990 and the opening of Interstate 476. November 16, 2008 U.S. Airways flight 4551, a U.S. Airways Express deHavilland Dash-8 turboprop ( operated by Piedmont Airlines ) started at 08:20 clock from the airport Lehigh Valley Destination Philadelphia and had to perform an emergency landing. All 35 passengers and three crew members survived the accident unharmed.

June 27, 2009 Allegiant Air flight 746, a McDonnell Douglas MD -80 with destination Orlando Sanford had to perform an emergency landing after the left engine flames were discovered. No one was injured.
