Leopold im Marchfelde is a market town with 2592 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district Gaenserndorf in Lower Austria.

Geography

Leopold im Marchfelde located in the center of the field on March Rußbach ( Marchfeldkanal ) in the wine district in Lower Austria. The area of the municipality covers 28.95 square kilometers, with the cadastral Leopold im Marchfelde 17.24 and the cadastral Breitstetten is 11.71 square kilometers. 6.27 percent of the area is forested.

History

The earliest mention of the town dates from the famous minstrel Tannhäuser in 1246, who had an estate ( fief ) in Leopold village.

Previous names of Leopold village were Liutpoltsdorf daz lit bi lynx close ( owner Tannhäuser ), Leupoltzdorf, Lewpoltsdorf, Leoppoltsdorf, Luiberstorff, Leutmannsdorf, Loibersdorf, Loypersdorf ( Vischerkarte ) Loipersdorf, Loibersdorff and Leopold VUMB village ( neighborhood under the mountain Manhart ). Today's spelling Leopold im Marchfelde goes back to a publication in the Official Gazette from 1916.

In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria.

In 1971 the two communities Leopold village and Breitstetten were merged into one local authority area.

In the 57th session of the XII. Legislative period of the Landtag northeast Leopold village was raised in Marchfelde on 9 July 1987 by unanimous decision of a market town.

Coat of arms

A gevierteter of red and silver plate, topped with a growing sign foot from the golden ear. The to be derived from the municipal coat of arms colors are therefore " Red-White ".

Policy

Mayor of the municipality is Nentwich Thomas, Office Manager Dieter Hauer. The parish council is composed of Vice- Mayor Ernst Schwarz and the executive councils Wilhelm Herok, Clemens Nagel, Siegfried Nemeth and Alexei Prosoroff. Local Head of Breitstetten is Erika Kolm.
In the market there are a total of 21 council seats after the municipal elections in 2010, the following distribution of seats: 14 SPÖ, ÖVP and FPÖ 6 1

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 2392 inhabitants. In 1991, the market town of 2244 inhabitants, 1981 and 2092 in 1971, 2153 inhabitants.

Non-agricultural work places there were in 2001, 94 agricultural and forestry holdings according to the 1999 survey 40 The number of persons employed at the residence was according to the 2001 census, 1072. The employment rate in 2001 was 46.44 percent.

Sports

The SC Leopold village plays in the 2.Landesliga East ( football) and has 6 junior teams. There is a tennis club, the TKL ( tennis).
