Leuciscinae

Rudd ( Scardinius erythrophthalmus )

White fish ( Leuciscinae ) are a subfamily of the carp family (Cyprinidae ). The freshwater fish live in North America, Europe and Asia, with the exception of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

Native species are ide, bream, chub, roach, bream, dace, nose, Perlfisch, roach, rudd, Schneider, Pickerel and Zope, and the asp, the only predatory Art

Features

Most white fish have an elongated or hochrückige body shape. The dorsal fin is short, the first fin ray is often not ossified. The anal fin starts getting behind the dorsal fin. Most species have no barbels. The lateral line can be complete or reduced, a full runs always at the center of the tail fin shaft. Some species have a sharp abdominal keel formed from the above scales. White fish have one to three rows of pharyngeal teeth.

System

Within the white fish can be determined several monophyletic clades. The subfamilies Abraminae, Alburninae, Chondrostominae, Elopichthyinae, Hypophthalmichthyinae and Xenocyprininae must be provided to the Leuciscinae according to different phylogenetic studies.
