List of bones of the human skeleton
The human skeleton consists of (individually different; usual figures given are 206-214 ) from well 212 bones, which are categorized in the following. Babies have over 300 bones, some of which grow together over time.

- Skull Braincase ( neurocranium ) Occiput ( occipital bone )
- Temporal bone ( temporal bone )
- Upper jaw (maxilla )
- Lower jaw ( mandible )
- Lacrimal bone ( lacrimal )
- Vomer ( vomer )
- Ossicles ( malleus, incus, stapes )
Hull
- Spine from about 33 vertebrae ( vertebral columna ): Seven cervical vertebrae ( cervical vertebrae ), which named separately the first cervical vertebrae, the atlas
- The second cervical vertebra, Axis
- The seventh cervical vertebra, vertebra prominens
- Twelve ribs ( costae ) on each side
- Breastbone ( sternum)
Upper extremity
Shoulder
- The shoulder girdle ( cingulum membri superioris ) is formed by two bones: Collarbone ( clavicle )
- Shoulder blade (scapula )
Arm
- Upper arm bone (humerus )
- Forearm bones (ossa antebrachii ) Elle ( ulna )
- Radius ( radius)
Hand
- Large Trapezium ( trapezium )
- The metacarpus consists of five bones ( metacarpals, numbered IV) Two sesamoid bones (ossa sesamoidea ) in the metacarpophalangeal joint ( metacarpophalangeal joint ) of the thumb
Lower Extremity
Hip ( coxa )
- The hip bone (os coxae ), grown together of three bones: Ilium ( ilium )
Leg
- Thigh bone ( femur)
- Kneecap ( patella)
- Lower leg bones (ossa cruris) Shinbone ( tibia)
- Fibula ( fibula )
Foot
The foot consists of twenty-six bones. The tarsus ( tarsus ) consists of seven bones
- Tarsal bones Anklebone ( talus )
- Heel bone ( calcaneus )
- Cuboid ( cuboid )
- Five metatarsal bones (ossa metatarsi, numbered IV) Two sesamoid bones (ossa sesamoidea ) in the metatarsophalangeal joint ( metatarsophalangeal joint ) of the big toe
Accessory bones
In addition, there are a number of bone and varieties that occur only in a small proportion of the population. These include:
- Additional ribs Cervical ribs as an additional rib on the seventh cervical vertebra ( clinically relevant cervical rib syndrome)
- Lumbar ribs on the first lumbar vertebra
