This is a list of cities in Lithuania.
By far the largest city in Lithuania is Vilnius, with a population of 541 824. In the district of Vilnius 848 261 people ( as of 1 January 2006). Thus, a quarter of the country's population is concentrated in the capital region.
In Lithuania, there are currently 103 officially places with city law. There are also several places that had temporarily municipal law and are traditionally called miestelis town and also carry a coat of arms. The following table lists all cities with more than 5,000 inhabitants, the results of the Census ( Census ) of 12 January 1989 and 6 April 2001, and a continuation of the Lithuanian Statistics Administration ( Lietuvos Statistikos Departamentas ) for January 1, 2006. Listed is also the administrative district to which the city belongs. The population figures refer to the actual city without suburban belt.
