List of mayors and chiefs of government of Buenos Aires

This is a list of Mayors and Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital since 1810.

Your first mayor (Spanish: Intendente ) was Torcuato de Alvear, he was appointed directly by the President Julio Argentino Roca.

Since 1996, following the constitutional reform of 1994, Buenos Aires is an autonomous city and the Jefe de Gobierno (German: Government) are elected directly by the citizens. At the same time the office of Vicejefe de Gobierno (vice - chiefs ) was created. The first directly elected head of government was Fernando de la Rúa, who later also became president of Argentina.

2006, the then- incumbent Aníbal Ibarra was relieved of his duties after a fire broke out in the nightclub República Cromañón and his vice Jorge Telerman took over the business.

In the election on 24 June 2007, Mauricio Macri won the second round with 45.6 % of votes in Daniel Filmus.
