List of Nobel laureates in Chemistry
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded annually since 1901 and is endowed since 2012 with 8 million Swedish kronor (about 893,000 Euros ). The selection of the laureates is subject to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The sponsor of the prize, Alfred Nobel, in his will of 27 November 1895 on the granting of the award has been controlled, the Nobel Prize for Chemistry was to be awarded to the person "who has made the most important chemical discovery or improvement ". The Nobel Prize is awarded each year on the anniversary of Alfred Nobel, 10 December by the Swedish king.
Since the first Nobel Prize ceremony, the prize was awarded to a total of 166 times. A total of 165 chemists were awarded, among which 161 men ( 97.6 % ) and four were women ( 2.4%). As the only Frederick Sanger won two Nobel Prize in Chemistry. From 1901 to 2013, the price was 63 times awarded undivided interests in a person. 23 times he was divided between two, 19 times between three people. Eight times the prize was not awarded, most recently in 1942.
