Lists of nuclear disasters and radioactive incidents

The list of accidents in nuclear plants called accidents (INES ) have been ranked higher than at least "accident" Level 4 and based on the International Nuclear Event Scale evaluation. Less severe accidents are described for example in the list of reportable events in German nuclear plants or the list of incidents in European nuclear installations ( nuclear weapons tests, see List of nuclear weapons tests in the Category: Nuclear test ). The list is limited to nuclear facilities; not included therefore are accidents and risks that have occurred in the degradation and in the further processing of uranium in uranium - mining dumps or Absetzseen, such as the 1979 occurred fraction of a Absetzsee Dam in the United States, free sat more radioactivity than in this list included Three Mile Iceland accident.

The INES scale was introduced by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA ) to worldwide standardization in the reporting of incidents and accidents is obtained and the population can be informed about the scope of the radiological consequences of such an incident. Since the INES was not introduced until the early 1990s, all previous events are not classified according to this scale.

The most common accidents in nuclear plants are the Chernobyl disaster on 26 April 1986 and the Fukushima nuclear disaster of 11 March 2011. Besides these, worst-case scenario mentioned incidents there are more accidents, which are to be significant contamination and thus environment and human health has come.
