Logan Pyett

Logan Pyett (born 25 May 1988 in Balgonie, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defender and currently plays for the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League.

Career

Logan Pyett was in Balgonie, a small town near Regina, born in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan and played the beginning of his career for the local youth teams Balgonie Prairie Storm and Regina Pat Canadians, where he was able to impress with his play as an attacking defender.

During the 2002/ 03 season he played his first two games for the Regina Pats in the WHL first-class Canadian junior league and was in the following year to the root cadres of the team. He played a solid first season with 24 points and was the top scoring defender of the team that finished, however, the last place in the league.

2005/ 06 succeeded Pyett to establish itself among the best defenders in the league. With ten goals and 35 assists, he finished ninth in the list of scorers defender, but he had the second-worst plus / minus value of his team. The Pats have qualified for the playoffs this time, but already failed in the first round. After the season, he participated with the Canadian junior national team at the U18 World Cup. Canada had to drive for third place without a medal home and Pyett was among the defenders of the World Cup 's fourth- best scorer after a defeat in the game.

Despite good performances Pyett was ignored due to its small body size for a defender in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 by many teams before he was selected with the 212th and thus penultimate voting rights of the Detroit Red Wings in the seventh round.

In the season 2006/ 07 Pyett continued to play for the Regina Pats and played his best season so far. With 62 points in 71 games, he was the fourth best in this category WHL defenseman with 48 assists, the second-best assist provider among the defenders in the league. The Pats could certainly qualify for the playoffs and went to the second round one. In the summer of 2007, he was appointed to a Canadian U20 selection, which took in the comprehensive eight games Super Series 2007 against a Russian national team of the same age. In autumn 2008, Logan Pyett took part in the training camp of the Detroit Red Wings and graduated from the 2008/09 season in the American Hockey League farm team of the Detroit, Grand Rapids Griffins. There he had to bring problems to be offensive game, which was his great strength in the juniors to advantage and also on the defensive, he showed shortcomings in speed and körplicher hardness. In July 2012, Pyett signed as a free agent a one year contract with the New York Rangers.
