Geography

Location

Lossatal lies to the east of Leipzig and northeast of Wurzen. Through the municipal area the eponymous Lossa flows through Müglenz, Hohburg, small and Großzschepa to trough. Falk grove is located on the western edge of the Dahlen Heath. To the place Hohburg are the Hohburger mountains with the 240 m high Löbenberg.

Neighboring municipalities are Mockrehna in the north, Dahlen and Belgern - Schildau in the east, the south and Wurzen Thallwitz in the West.

History

The community Lossatal was January 1, 2012 through the merger of the municipalities Falk grove and Hohburg with its districts.

Policy

The merger of the municipality Lossatal makes the election of the first mayor necessary. To select Martina Lehnigk ( Independent Voters Association ) and Uwe Weigelt presented Wolfram Ebert (CDU ), (single applicant ). Already after the first round of voting on March 25, 2012 stood Uwe Weigelt, the former mayor of the municipality Hohburg, decide with 71% of the valid votes cast for the election itself.

Economy and infrastructure

Through the municipal area, the B 6, the Leipzig -Dresden railway line and the line used for freight rail line Wurzen Rush castle leads.

In Lossatal are a primary and a secondary school. The closest high school is located in Wurzen.
