Geography

In the district of Lossburg springs the Kinzig, which ends after 95 km at Kehl in the Rhine.

Community structure

The total community Loßburg consists of the eight districts Lossburg, Betzenweiler, Lombach, Schomberg, Sterneck, 24- yards, and Witten Wälde village with a total of 64 villages, hamlets, tines, farms and houses.

History

The Loßburger area originally belonged to the Counts of Sulz obvious. Through the marriage of a daughter of Count Berthold von Sulz with Walther von Tierberg ( 1235 line Tierberg / Geroldseck ) the possession must be passed to the Geroldsecker. The son Walther ( 2), now called by Geroldseck, married in 1252 Heilika of Finstingen. Around this time, built the Geroldsecker, the later High Geroldsecker with its castle between Schuttertal and Kinzig valley, the "Lose Burch " with the planned as a town site. From the Kinzig origin Geroldsecker attracted a moat ( OHG losi ) to their new castle and built the hilltop castle according to their tribe Burglahr to Wasserburg. Adolf Bach derives from place names with Loose or lots of " losi " (= water ditch ). Dr. Schöck, head of the regional office of Ethnology in Stuttgart, provides such a derivation for Loßburg applicable. Water supply

The benefits derived from Kinzig moat, now called Mühlbach, delivered once for the place only a small amount of water. Therefore, in 1539 strict rules for the water consumption of the Kinzig adopted the pronouncements to Lossburg of the year. The Geroldsecker pledged their rule in 1468 to the House of Württemberg, which thus became ruler. Landowner was from 1501 the monastery Alpirsbach. In the peasant wars of Loßburger peasant leader Thomas Maier played a major role, he was beheaded after the battle Böblinger 1525.

The study conducted in Württemberg Reformation led to the secularization of the monastery Alpirsbach. Lossburg came as the newly Klosteramts Alpirsbach. Loßburg is located on the main road 294 ( Bretten - Freiburg ) and the Kinzig Valley Railway ( Freudenstadt - Hausach ). There are direct connections towards Freudenstadt and Offenburg. The county town of Freudenstadt is seven kilometers away.

Between the hamlets Betzenweiler and Wälde lies the nature reserve Heimbachaue. Many endangered plants and animals have found a protection and habitat.
