Louis Hostin

Louis Hostin (* April 21, 1908 in Saint- Étienne, † 29 June 1998 Boisseron ) was a French weightlifter.

Career

Louis Hostin began at age 17 with the weight lifting. His models were the famous compatriots to Olympic champion Ernest Cadine and Charles Rigoulot. As early as 1927 he was first champion of France and in 1928 he won a medal at the Olympics. In 1932 and 1936 he was Olympic champion. From 1928 to 1939 he was one of the world's best weightlifters in the light heavyweight division. He was a model of consistency. Whenever it mattered, he showed his best performances. Only at the European Championships 1934 in Turin " fluffed " it with three failed attempts in beidarmigen thrusting.

The French government honored Louis Hostin in 1978 with the Order of Merit.
