Trofim Lomakin

Trofim Fyodorovich Lomakin (Russian Трофим Фёдорович Ломакин; born August 2, 1924 in Barantscha in the Altai region, † 13 June 1973) was a Soviet weightlifter.

At the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki surprised a Soviet weightlifters the public when he won the gold medal ahead of the favored Arkady Vorobyov and Stanley Stanczyk in the light heavyweight division. His name was Trofim Lomakin and was a member of the " Red Army ". The expert was trained mechanics and shatov, something beefy, 28 -year-old athlete did not quite unknown, he had won in 1951 in Berlin at the World Youth Festival and in 1952 at the Soviet Championships. By 1960, he then mixed with many major international championships with the very front. In 1960, he surprised with a change in the means heavyweight, after he was overtaken in 1959 in light heavy weight of the new Soviet lifter Star Rudolf Plukfelder.

Trofim Lomakin, last officer in the Soviet army, died already in 1973.
