Ľubomír Vaic

Lubomir Vaic ( born March 6, 1977 in Ves, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey player standing since June 2011 when HK Poprad in the Slovak Extraliga under contract.

Career

Lubomir Vaic began his career as a hockey player with the SKP Poprad PS, for whom he made ​​his debut in the Slovak Extraliga in the 1993/94 season. After the season he signed a contract with the League rival HK Ves ​​, with whom he subsequently descended in the first league. Therefore, the attacker moved to TJ VSZ Kosice, Slovak champion with whom he was in 1996. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round in 1996 when a total of 227 players from the Vancouver Canucks. After Vaic initially remained another year in Košice, he gave in the 1997/98 season his debut in the National Hockey League for Vancouver. However, the majority of the season he spent at their farm team, the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

For the season 1998/99 Vaic returned to his Slovak homeland, where he was champion again with the HC Košice. Then he got a new opportunity in Vancouver, but was again not recognized in the NHL. In the 1999/2000 season he played only four games in which he remained point and impunity. The rest of the season he was again included in the squad of the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. In the summer of 2000, the Center moved first to Western Europe, where he worked for the Polar Bears Berlin from the German Ice Hockey League was on the ice a season long. In June 2011, he received a one-year contract with HK Poprad.

Internationally

For Slovakia Vaic participated in the Junior C- 1994 World Cup, the U18 European Junior Championships in 1995 and the Junior World Championships in 1996 and 1997 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Slovakia in the World Championships 2000, 2003 and 2006.
