Lunar Strain is the first album by the Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames. The album was released in 1994 via Wrong Again Records.

Background

Since the band " hellishly difficult [ was ] to get a good singer ", she reached back to Mikael Stanne first of Dark Tranquillity. The Songs Behind Space and Clad in Shadows were re-recorded for the album Colony.

All titles, with the exception of the Swedish folk song Hårgalåten were written by Jesper Strömblad and Glenn Ljungstrom. The texts are all from Mikael Stanne and act " of mysterious things in the universe, from the questions that are still open on the infinite universe ".

The album was produced by the band itself. Guest musicians were Hammerfall guitarist Oscar Dronjak and Jennica Johansson (vocals ) and Yvla Wåhlsted (violin). The artwork was designed by Kenneth Johansson.

The fact that the band at the time of publication was still relatively unknown, appeared at the beginning of the sales; significant paragraph it was not until a year after its release. However, published on 1 April 1995 Japanese pressing with the pieces of the Subterranean EP and recorded for a Metallica tribute album Post sold within two days 3,000 times. Until mid-1995, sales amounted including the Japanese version to around 10,000 units.

Versions

On April 1, was released in 1995 alongside the European version of a Japanese with the pieces of the Subterranean EP and recorded for a Metallica tribute album Post. In 1999, the album was re-released along with the EP via Regain Records. A Picture- LP dates from the same year. 2010 album of the same record company was re-released as a single CD and topped out in 1993, with the four songs from the demo. For the re-release of the order of the title was changed a bit. She appeared in a box along with a patch, a button and a poster. This release is limited to 3000 copies.
