Machina II / The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music is the sixth album by the Smashing Pumpkins. It is the second concept album by Machina / The Machines of God and was released on 5 September 2000 on the Internet at the band's own label Constantinople Records.

Virgin wanted Machina II not publish so soon after Machina / The Machines of God, which is also due to the rather moderate success of the album. Thus, only 25 copies were made ​​of Machina II and sent to this particularly die-hard fans. Shortly thereafter, it was provided free of charge as a parting gift for her fans on the Internet for download. Of this there are two versions. A version based on internal promo shots of Virgin. The second version is the result of digitizing the vinyl version with different quality. A high-quality version comes from radio station Q101, which had digitized one of the 25 Urveröffentlichungen with professional equipment. The download is available in various formats like flac, ogg and mp3.

Originally it was to be the last album by the Smashing Pumpkins, but released in 2007 after many years break under the title Zeitgeist a new studio album.
