Madredeus

Madredeus is a band from Portugal. It was founded in 1986 in Lisbon. Today Madredeus is an internationally renowned Portuguese group.

Concept

The style of Madredeus has its roots in the traditional Portuguese music. The songs embody Portuguese myths of heroism poetic, melancholy and romance and are often located in the area of ​​world music. Most founding members have studied classical composition, plus musical influences of Fado and progressive popular music. Pedro Ayres Magalhães founder of the band refers to the style of music as a classical Portuguese music as it was just never played. Start

Already in late 1985 Pedro Ayres Magalhães tried (from the pop band " Heróis do Mar " ) and Rodrigo Leão (from the folk-pop band " Sétima Legião " ) composed of new musical ideas that led to the formal establishment of Madredeus in 1986. Radical change

In October 2011, Pedro Ayres Magalhães finally announced for 2012, 25 years after the debut of the band, a new lineup of Madredeus, with musicians from the " Lusitânia Ensemble", the " Orquestra Sinfonica Portuguesa " and trained in jazz and classical singing Beatriz Nunes.
