Makole

Makole ( German: Maxau ) is a municipality in the Spodnja Štajerska region in Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of 13 villages and hamlets in 2105 people. The main town Makole alone has 286 inhabitants and is located on 260 m. The community is located south of Maribor in the Valley of dravinjska.

History

1375 the village was first mentioned Makole. Since 1 March 2006, the community is self-employed. Before that, it belonged to the municipality of Slovenska Bistrica.

Worth seeing

Worth seeing is the Štatenberg castle. It stands on a hill above Makole. Count Ignaz Maria Attems had this castle built before 1697.
