Municipality of Kungota

Kungota ( German: Sankt Kunigund ) is a municipality in the Lower Styria region in Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of 19 villages and hamlets 4741 people live. The main town Zgornja Kungota alone has 1594 inhabitants and lies at 272 meters above sea level on the Austrian border in the Windische Büheln ( Slovenske gorice ). The Pešnica ( Pößnitzbach ) flows through the municipal area.

1391 the village was first mentioned in a document. Today's overall community is still young, it was founded in 1994. It is operated much viticulture.
