Malguénac

Malguénac ( Breton: Malgeneg ) is a commune with 1752 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pontivy Communauté.

Geography

Malguénac located in the north of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Cléguérec in the north, Pontivy in the east, Le Sourn the southeast, Guern the south and southwest and Séglien in the northwest.

The place is because of its location west of the city near Pontivy of roads for inter-regional traffic. North of Malguénac leads the D782 from Pontivy over after ROSPORDEN. The major routes are the D700/D768 (formerly Route nationale 168), which passes several kilometers east of the community, the N164 in the north and the N24 to the south.

The major bodies of water are the streams Bonne Chère, Le Frétu, Germaude, La Pierre and Ker JEHANNO. These also form part of the municipal boundary. In addition, there are several ponds in the municipality.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Pondi (French Pays de Pontivy ) and shares his story. Since 1793 Malguénac belongs to the canton Cléguérec. Parts of the former township were separated during the formation of the new town of Le Sourn 1869 by Malguénac.
