Malinovo

Malinovo (Slovak 1927 bis 1946/1948 " Eberhard " - to 1927 " Eberhardt "; German Eberhardt, Eberhard Hungarian ) is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj in Bratislava in the south-west Slovakia.

Geography

The village lies on the flat Great Rye Island (part of the Danube lowland ) on the right bank of the Little Danube. The capital Bratislava is 15 km to the west, while Senec is located 16 km to the northwest.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1209 as Yberhart where the name is derived from the German surname Eberhardt. Eberhardt was until the end of the 15th century the estate of the Earl of St. Georgen. In the 14th century, here is a water castle was built (rebuilt to the country castle in the 17th century), which served to protect the ford and later the bridge over the Little Danube.

The place was inhabited from the 13th to the 16th century, the majority of Germans. In the 16th century the estate was divided in almost devastated village and parts of the old Herrschaftsguts was the estate of Eberhardt. In the following centuries, the village belonged to the Pálffys, Bishop Georg Szelepcsényi, the families Balassa, Jeszenák and finally Apponyis.

Until 1918/1919 the place in the county Pressburg the Kingdom of Hungary belonged and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, the village was 1938-45 again to Hungary. In 1946-48, there was a population exchange between Czechoslovakia and Hungary, making some Hungarian inhabitants moved to Hungary, while Slovak families from Hungary came to Eberhardt. At this time the town was renamed from national political reasons and from the German into Slovak Eberhardt Malinovo, which means something like " raspberries village" ( Malina = raspberry) means.

Population

Malinovo is divided into two almost equal on an ethnic level. According to the 2001 census was 1,349 inhabitants 50.6 % Hungarians, Slovaks, 47.4% and 0.7% Czechs. According to the religion of 84.5 % of the population are Catholics, 7.8 % did not specify, and 2.9 % said his denomination as a Protestant to.
