Geography

The village lies to the west of Mallin Tollense. Near the village flows the Aalbach, a left tributary of the Tollense. Named after the village Mallin, two kilometers away Malliner lake belongs to the boundaries of the neighboring community Kuckssee. The city Penzlin is six kilometers away from Mallin, the center of the county town of Neubrandenburg nine kilometers.

History

Mallin

The name of the village was first mentioned in 1348 Mallin could go back to the Slavic terms maly ( = small) or malina ( = raspberry). In the course of time developed into an estate village Mallin to its owners for many decades belonged to the family von Maltzan.

Noteworthy is the mansion Mallin ( castle ), the Baron von Hauff was built 1870/71. The manor with its eleven axes and a basement works oversized. The castle served as a residence after 1945, Kindergarten, Art Studio and Restaurant, since 1991 it has been empty. Lack of maintenance measures and vandalism were forfeited it visibly. 2007 were carried out first repair work, but since then the decline continues.

Since January 1, 2012 includes the formerly independent municipality Mallin, which included the district Passentin, the city Penzlin.
