Malvillers

Malvillers is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Malvillers situated at an altitude of 260 m above sea level, 8 km west of Combeaufontaine and about 30 km west-northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the west of the département, in the rolling countryside of the South East edge of the plateau of Langres, slightly increased on the eastern edge of the Talniederung Sorlière.

The area of ​​7.09 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau north of the Saônetals. From north to south the area is crossed by the Alluvialniederung the Sorlière, which provides for the drainage of the Gourgeonne Saône. The flood plain is on average 250 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. The valley is flanked on both sides by a plateau, which reaches an average altitude of 280 m. In the Talniederung and on the plateau dominates agricultural use. The western boundary forms the forest height of Gros Bois. To the north, the land rises gradually to the wooded here ( Forêt Domaniale de Cherlieu ) south-eastern foothills of the plateau of Langres. With 359 m Bois is achieved the highest elevation of the Grand Malvillers. The area around Malvillers consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the lower Jurassic period.

Neighboring communities of Malvillers are Cintrey and Preigney in the north, Melin in the east, Lavigney in the south and La Roche- Morey and Molay in the West.

History

Remains of a Neolithic settlement site indicate an early presence of man. In the Middle Ages Malvillers belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local rule was under the monastery Cherlieu. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Malvillers is a member of the 10 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Belles Fontaines.

Attractions

The village church of Malvillers was built in the 17th and 18th centuries in classical style. From the early 20th century, the Mairie dates ( Municipal House ).

Population

With 72 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Malvillers one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, a significant population decline was recorded (1891 232 persons were still counted ).

Economy and infrastructure

Malvillers is still a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture, fruit growing and cattle breeding ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road N19, which runs from Vesoul to Langres. Further road links exist with Melin, Lavigney, Morey and Molay.
