Ouge

Ouge is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ouge situated at an altitude of 340 m above sea level, 5 km west-southwest of Vitrey -sur -Mance and 39 km west-northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme north- west of the department, on a high plateau on the eastern slopes of the plateau of Langres, between the valleys of Mance in the north and in the south Ougeotte.

The area of ​​13:49 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau of Langres west of the upper Saônetals. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Ouge, which is on average 340 m. It has a width of three kilometers and a length of four kilometers and is predominantly used for agricultural purposes. In geological- tectonic terms, these high surface consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited on the merits during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In the southwest of the plateau is related to the high surface area of ​​Fayl -Billot.

The plateau and is bordered to the north by the broad valley of Mance, in the west by its inflow Ruisseau des Bruyeres, who has sunk by its erosive power over time a deep valley cut into the plateau. The steep slopes are mostly forested. In the south the plateau is flanked by the gullies of the headwaters of the Ougeotte. Here is the forest area of ​​the Bois du Châtelet. In the far south, on the plateau of La Quarte, is achieved with 383 m the highest elevation of Ouge.

History

Remains of Gallo- Roman period in the Bois du Châtelet point to a very early settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages Ouge belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. In the 10th century it belonged to the monastery of Luxeuil, after which he came to rule Chauvirey. During the Thirty Years' War Ouge 1636 was completely destroyed and was then about seven years uninhabited. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since September 1, 2002 Ouge is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages, interdepartmental community association Communauté de communes du Pays Vannier.

Attractions

The church of Saint - Remy is originally from the 13th century and is classified as a monument historique. From 1832 to 1857 it was partially rebuilt. The interior dates from the 18th century. In the southwest of the village stands a Calvaire (18th century ) with pole figure. Also the status of a monument historique has the castle, which was built in the 16th century and is flanked by two round towers.

Population

With 123 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Ouge to the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1886 were still 580 people counted ).

Economy and infrastructure

Ouge was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Jussey after Fayl -Billot. Further road links exist with Chauvirey -le- Châtel and Pierre Mont- sur- Amance.
