MANRA (English MANRA Iceland, formerly Sydney Iceland ) is the most south-eastern atoll of Kiribati Phoenix Islands. It is located in the Pacific Ocean, about 490 km south of the equator. The lagoon has no access to the sea and forms a highly saline lake, the water level is slightly lower than that of the surrounding sea. On this lake numerous small sand islands are ( Motus ).

MANRA was in 1823 by the London whaling ship Sydney Packet, T. Emmett master, discovered and named Sydney.

The (including lagoon ) about 4.5 km ² island was inhabited only 1938-1963. She was a destination launched by the British colonialists resettlement program, the so-called " Phoenix Islands Settlement Scheme " to the overpopulation on the north-west Gilbert Islands to master. Two villages were created, the Mauta and Ona were called. After the failure of the project but left little by the settlers, the three islands concerned MANRA ( Sydney ), Nikumaroro and Orona (Hull) again.

The islands are now uninhabited, but numerous seabirds serve as a breeding place; since 1975 MANRA is an official nature reserve.
