Mansour Barzegar

Mansour Barzegar, Persian منصور برزگر, ( born February 28, 1947 in Tehran ) is a retired Iranian Freistlilringer and participants in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and 1976 in Montreal.

Career

Mansour Barzegar appeared only at the age of 25 years for the first time at an international championship. He began 1972 in Munich at the Olympic Games in free style, the style in which he operated exclusively. The Tehran was added, prepared by the coaches Mohammad Ali Sanatkaran, Mansour Mehdizadeh and Parvitz Sirourpur who assisted him later. He struggled throughout his career in the welterweight division, the weight class that had its weight limit at 74 kg body weight at the time.

In Munich Mansour Barzegar defeated Toshitada Yoshida from Japan and Yuri Gussow from the USSR, wrestled against Urbanovics Miklos from Hungary undecided and lost against the German Adolf Seger from Freiburg. He finished in 5th place. At the World Championships in 1973 in Tehran, he took advantage of the favorable moment before local audiences to wrestle and was there with seven wins welterweight champion. Among the beat of his wrestlers were with Fred Hempel from the GDR Jan Karlsson from Sweden and Ruslan Aschuralijew from the USSR outspoken world-class athletes. Against Adolf Seger however not quite able to win again. However, a draw against Seger handed him to win the tournament and the title.

In 1974, Mansour Barzegar won at the Asian Games in Tehran before Danzandarjaa Sereeter from Mongolia and Mitsuo Degawa from Japan. At the World Cup this year, he was missing, however. In 1975 he won the silver medal at the World Championships in Minsk welterweight. He won among others, there about Jiichirō Date from Japan, Zevegin Duvchin from Mongolia and Jancho Pavlov from Bulgaria. However, in the final battle he was defeated Ruslan Aschuralijew on points. This year, he was by the way also in two tournaments in Germany at the start, he won both. At the Grand Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in Aschaffenburg he won ahead of Marin Pârcălabu from Romania and the " Werner - soul ties " tournament in Leipzig, he won ahead of Udo Schröder from the GDR and Francis Lebeque from Cuba.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal him then managed a medal win. He won there over Giuseppe Spagnoli from Italy, Fred Hempel, Jarmo Övermark from Finland, Ruslan Aschuralijew, Jancho Pavlov and Stanley Dziedzic from the United States, but had to fight for victory against Jiichirō Date, whom he had defeated in the World Cup 1975, admit defeat and be satisfied with the Olympic silver medal.

At the World Championships in 1977 in Lausanne, the last, which he denied Mansour Barzegar was again in the final battle. But he lost it against Stanley Dziedzic on points and was again runner-up world champion.

Mansour Barzegar was after his career as a wrestler trainer. In the years 1978-1979, 1990-1996 and 2006-2007 he was head coach of the Iranian national team wrestler. But between, he also held high official posts (Technical Director, General Manager) in the Iranian Wrestling Federation.
