Marc Gicquel

Marc Gicquel ( born March 30, 1977 in Tunis, Tunisia ) is a French tennis player.

Career

Born in the Tunisian capital Tunis, Gicquel pulled early with his family to France. At the age of seven years, the Frenchman began playing tennis. In 1999, Gicquel his debut on the ATP Tour, but decided to only two years later for the final professional tennis and to study physics.

2006 Gicquel reached after victories over former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, and the former French Open champion Gastón Gaudio the second round of the U.S. Open. There he was defeated by world number one Roger Federer in three sets. In the same year the Frenchman reached the final of Lyon, where he defeated Richard Gasquet. On September 8, 2008 Gicquel was ranked 37 in the world rankings, his highest ever placing. The Frenchman celebrated in tennis doubles in his career on the ATP Tour win twice, he was also five times in Challenger tournaments in individual successfully.
