March of Dimes Prize in Developmental Biology
The March of Dimes Prize in Developmental Biology ( " March of Dimes - Prize for Developmental Biology ") is a science prize, which is awarded by the American charity March of Dimes. The units awarded annually price is U.S. $ 250,000 prize (as of 2013). In addition, the prize winner will receive a silver medal, which is a dime with the portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the founder of the March of Dimes modeled.
The award honors scientists whose works have achieved significant progress in understanding the genesis of congenital malformations. Six of the 30 winners have later a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine received (as of early 2013 ).
