Marek Svatoš

Marek Svatoš ( born June 17, 1982 in Košice, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak professional ice hockey player who played until 2013 for the HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League on the position of the right wing player.

Career

Svatoš selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 to 227 out of the Colorado Avalanche. His first NHL game played Svatoš in the 2003/04 season, and he also continued to show good performance. His first hat-trick in the NHL succeeded Svatoš against the Calgary Flames at 7:3 victory for the Avalanche. Svatoš was appointed to the Slovak national team and played at the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin for Slovakia.

On 9 March 2006 it was announced that Svatoš had suffered a fracture to his right shoulder, which meant that he had to miss the rest of the season 2005/ 06. By the time of the injury Svatoš had shot nine game-winning goals, which gave him the first place in the statistics and at the same time meant a NHL record for a rookie. He was also with 32 gates one of the best scorer among the rookies.

The season 2006/ 07 a major setback for Svatoš who in 66 games could achieve only 15 goals and 15 assists, and thus fell far short of expectations, which has been associated with his severe injury. Also in the season 2007 /08 he was unable to match his best season points as standard.

In summer 2010 he was awarded a new contract with the Avalanche and joined the Continental Hockey League for Avangard Omsk HK, for whom he scored eight points scorer in 19 games. End of December 2010 was dissolved his contract in Omsk, 28 December 2010 it took over the St. Louis Blues of the NHL under contract. In order to play for the Blues in the NHL, Svatoš the League on the waiver list had to join, that is, that every NHL team could sign him within 48 hours, without the blues opposed bring in return. Finally, the winger was signed by the Nashville Predators from the waiver on December 29. In February 2011, he was again placed on the Waiverliste and selected by the Ottawa Senators. For the Senators, he completed 19 more NHL games. Then paused Svatoš from professional sports and only returned in January 2013 back on the ice, when he received a contract for four months period from HC Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental Hockey League.
