Maritime (band)

Maritime is an American indie rock band from Wisconsin.

Band History

The band was formed in 2003 from former members of the band The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment plan. After the dissolution of the two bands singer and guitarist Davey von Bohlen, drummer Dan Didier and bassist Eric Axelson came together and formed a band with the name in English.

The group was soon taken on by the independent label ANTI- Records and played a one -length album, which was not published by ANTI however. Then, the band name was changed and called themselves now Maritime.

Their first EP Adios produced and the band released on their own label Foreign Leisure in the music of The Promise Ring and Maritime on vinyl in the U.S. is available today. After the debut EP Maritime have signed a new recording contract with DeSoto Records. At the same time, the Hamburg indie label Grand Hotel van Cleef was aware of the band and took Maritime promptly under contract.

On May 31, published in 2004, their first album Maritime Glass Floor, with the coupled- Video Single Someone Has To. In September, the first tour was followed by Germany. On 28 October 2005 the second album We, The Vehicles has been published. Album number three followed on 12 October 2007 the third album Heresy and the Hotel Choir, in the summer of 2007 Maritime played with Kettcar, edge and Kilian on the hard van Cleef.

On 6 February 2006 it was announced that bassist Eric Axelson had left the band. His place was now a Justin Klug. Dan Hinz, who had delivered at We, The Vehicles as a studio musician a significant contribution at that time was a full member of the band.

After a four year hiatus appeared on April 8, 2011, the fourth album Human Hearts with the coupled- Video Single Paraphernalia.

Style

Sets the band's music with Wood / Water, the last album by The Promise Ring, direction taken away and connects indie rock songs with soulful arrangements and of Bohlen's characteristic voice, but uses more acoustic instruments than in earlier times.
