Marius Niculae

Marius Constantin Niculae (born 16 May 1981 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian football player. Since September 2013 he is at FC Hoverla - Zakarpattya Uzhhorod in Ukraine's Premjer - Liha under contract.

Club career

Niculae played already on 22 November 1996 at the age of 15 years against FC Farul Constanta his first championship game in Divizia A for Dinamo Bucharest. For his club he scored 43 goals in 100 league games, before he was transferred for a fee of around nine million U.S. dollars to the Portuguese top club Sporting Lisbon in 2001. With this in 2002 he was Portuguese champion and defeated in 2005 in their own stadium in the final of the UEFA Cup, CSKA Moscow 1:3. Niculae came off the bench in the final in the closing stages.

2005, the striker moved free transfer to the Belgian club Standard Liege. His 2006 expiring contract was not renewed until December 2006 he was without a club. The first FSV Mainz 05 Niculae took until June 2007 under contract. After the descent of the club in the 2nd Bundesliga Niculae signed on 17 July 2007 at Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Premier League a new contract for the 2007 /08 season.

In July 2008, Niculae switched back to Dinamo Bucharest. There he found in the 2008 /09 season with twelve hits his eye for goal and came back with his club to third place. In the following season the expectations were not met with a sixth place. During the winter break 2010/11 League on loan for half a year at AO Kavala in the Greek Super. Then he returned to Dinamo. There he won in 2012 for the third time the Romanian Cup. He then moved to the reigning vice-champion FC Vaslui. This he left during the winter break again already and went to Shandong Luneng to China. Half a year later he moved to the Ukrainian club FC Hoverla - Zakarpattya Uzhhorod.

National

Niculae made ​​his debut on 2 February 2000 against Latvia in the Romanian national team. After 18 caps and ten goals Niculaes career was halted in November 2001 due to a torn ACL for the first time. Later, a broken foot followed so that the former young star has since been used only sporadically in the national team. For the Romanian U21 national team, he scored 4 goals in 21 games.

Marius is the son of Constantin Niculae ( born 1955 ), who in Debrecen European Champion and Vice World Champion in Maastricht in judo in 1981 and now works as Judo coach.
