Mark Fusco

Mark Edward Fusco ( born March 12, 1961 in Burlington, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and current - functionary who has played during his active career, among others, for the Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender. His brother Scott was also a professional hockey player. After end of his career as an athlete in 1985, Fusco was manager and since January 2005, a director of Aspen Technology, an American manufacturer of software for process simulation.

Career

As a player

Mark Fusco went during his youth from 1977 to 1979 for the ice hockey team of the Belmont Hill High School in the high school league system of the United States on the ice. He then began studying at Harvard University and also played hockey for the team, the Harvard Crimson in the ECAC. After his first season in the ECAC, he was elected Rookie of the Year. In the following three years, Fusco received numerous individual honors due to its good performance and was repeatedly elected to a selected team of the best players in the league.

His last season in the team of the Harvard Crimson was his most successful and in 1983 he won the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in addition to the best player of the year, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the ECAC Championship with Harvard University. Although Fusco played on the position of the defender, he was regarded as an offensive playmaker. On February 25, 1984, he signed as a free agent contract with the Hartford Whalers. The Whalers he was set as a regular player, but after the 1984/85 season Fusco decided to end his career. He was admitted along with his brother Scott in the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002.

Even after his sporting career was the Hockey Fusco received and was also a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the Executive Board of the American Hockey Association USA Hockey.

Internationally

Fusco represented his native country at the Junior World Cup in 1981, the Winter Olympic Games in 1984, the Canada Cup in 1984 and the World Cup 1985. His greatest success was about the fourth place at the World Cup 1985.

In management

After his career as a hockey player Fusco 1990 successfully completed his studies at the Harvard Business School. He then worked for various international IT - consulting firms and was a co-founder and president of Software Quality Partners, a consulting firm which was bought by Ajilon Consulting 1999. In 4,000 -strong company, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Firmenpräsdident. Since January 2005 he has been President and a director of Aspen Technology.
