Mark Renaud

Mark Renaud ( born February 21, 1959 in Windsor, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player (defender) who played from 1979 to 1984 for the Hartford Whalers and Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League.

Career

After a junior career with the Windsor Spitfires and the Niagara Falls Flyers, he was selected as the 102 NHL Entry Draft in 1979 by the Hartford Whalers.

Equal to the 1979/80 season he was in the squad of the Whalers and were some inserts in the NHL. He usually played in the AHL farm team for the Springfield Indians. After another two years, he commuted between Hartford and Binghamton Whalers, he played the 1982/83 season in full in the NHL. With a plus / minus stats by -42 However, he had to deal with the criticism that has been leveled at the weak Whalers defense deal.

For the 1983/84 season, the Buffalo Sabres picked him in the Waiver Draft. In addition to ten games for the Sabres, he was employed in his two years with the organization at the Rochester Americans.

His son Mickey Renaud was also hockey players. He played for the Windsor Spitfires and was on the jump to the NHL. NHL Entry Draft 2007, he was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round. He died unexpectedly on February 18, 2008 at the age of 19 years.
