Markus Hess is a former German hacker.

Markus Hess was involved along with Karl Koch and others at the KGB hack in the 1980s. He stepped under the pseudonym " Urmel " on the web. June 23, 1987 and from work by Markus Hess were searched in Hanover after Clifford Stoll of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California had become aware of the hacker who had broken into the computer of the laboratory. In a trial before the Higher Regional Court of Celle, which also Clifford Stoll testified, were sentenced Hess and others 1990 different probation.
