Markus Pöttinger

Markus Pöttinger ( born January 5, 1978 in Munich, Bavaria ) is a former German professional ice hockey player who spent a total of nine seasons in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

His professional career started for Markus Pöttinger 1995 in DEL at the Star Bulls Rosenheim. After two years at Bayern defender tried his luck in North America. He played one year in the OHL for the Ottawa 67 's. But he was not drafted, so he returned after only one season to Germany. For a season he signed for second division EC Bad Tolz, before he moved to the DEL again. In the Berlin Capitals he experienced in the third year their bankruptcy, after which he came to the DEG Metro Stars. For the season 2005/ 06 he moved to the Iserlohn Roosters, where he was a safe stay- at-home defenseman.

Pöttinger then worked on his doctoral thesis entitled "The Development of DEL to a stable league system " and has therefore ended his career. The sport of ice hockey, he remained as a member of the DEL - disciplinary committee.
