Marquess (band)

Marquess is a German pop music band from Hannover, which plays predominantly Spanish-language songs. The name is derived from the Marquess of a hotel name in which slept the musicians.

Band Members

Marquess was founded in 2006 by four musicians who were primarily active until then as music producers and writers.

  • Singer and frontman Sascha Pierro ( born April 8, 1972), German - Italian, worked in the past together with musicians such as Patrick Nuo, Jazzkantine, Oli P. and cappuccino and is also a photographer on the go. He has recorded an album of cover photos for Tokio Hotel. As a songwriter, he wrote, among other things, along with Marco Heggen the theme song of the telenovela butterflies in my stomach. In the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2003, he joined as a singer entitled to if limits fall, but could not qualify. By June 2006, he was the lead singer of the Hanoverian top 40 cover band Steam.
  • Bassist and keyboardist Marco Heggen ( born December 30, 1971) was already active as a producer for artists such as Marla Glen as well as a composer of songs and advertising jingles. He left the band in 2011.
  • Keyboardist Christian Fleps ( born January 18, 1972) is a producer (of Jasmin Wagner, Jimmy Somerville, Cultured Pearls, Joana Zimmer ) and songwriter for Mariha, which also has a guest appearance on the debut album Marquess.
  • The guitarist Dominik Decker ( born November 8, 1968), who also plays jazz and a sought-after session musician, was responsible for remixes of Placebo and Depeche Mode. His brother, Christian Decker, was the bassist for the band Fury in the Slaughterhouse.

Formation

Marquess ' debut single, El Temperamento was one of the summer hits of 2006, the first became known in the resorts of Central Europe and then reached the top ten of the German Media Control Charts. Originally, the song was created as a promotional soundtrack for the Hannover airport. In September 2006, the band had to follow her debut album Marquess.

The success of Vayamos compañeros led to great interest from other European countries. Marquess completed in August 2007, a live performance in the Belgian TV show Tien Om Te Zien and were then on a promotional tour in Belgium go. Vayamos compañeros there was published the end of August as a single, reached number 60 on the charts.

On 31 December 2007 Marquess occurred in the New Year's Eve celebration at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

On March 6, 2008, she appeared with La Histeria to at Deutsche preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2008, but were not in the final round of selection.

In June 2012, the band now returned as a trio with their new album ¡ bienvenido! back, which now includes more electronics.

Criticism

The band is criticized by Spanish language purists, as the lyrics of their songs to part with incorrect grammar and congruence.
